Dance with Me!

I remember, last Thanksgiving, sitting quietly at home with Fi, watching TV. Thanksgiving in the US usually marks the start of the Christmas caroling season on FM, and apparently TV wasn't immune either. Something started playing, a carol with a zing, something that set my feet tapping. The next thing I remember doing is dancing the length of the room with Fi. Whoever called November gloomy? Floodlights couldn't have brightened up that room any better than our smiles did!

On the ride back home from Boston to NYC with Fi in May 2008, we had Elvis on in the car. We were talking - just another conversation. Nothing special. I forget which song it was that came on. I looked at Fi, Fi looked over at me. A moment passed. Then, spontaneously, we broke into a twist, the typical Bollywood 70s smirk on our faces, hands off the wheel, manic movements in the middle of a four-lane highway. Then, laughter.

If I was given a wish, I'd ask that The Powers That Be recognize what Fi and I mean to each other, and bestow upon us the right to dance all our dances together, always, and with pleasure.
