The Dissertation-Writer's Handbook

Five things for Summer to remember while writing her thesis:

1. Keep writing. Whether it is one line or one page or an entire chapter, just write.

2. Keep FEAR for after you realize you're in hot water, not before!

3. Don't underestimate the time required to create figures and look up references! Use breaks and ramp-up times to get these "adjunct activities" out of the way.

4. Don't wait until you're "in deep trouble" to get help. Help is usually just a call away and can be summed up in the single little word "Fi".

5. You know more than you think you do. Believe in that!

"Okay, let's go!"
